One-Act:

Why Actors Can't Love by Allan Staples

Play Summary:

An actress confronts her ex-boyfriend, who recently published a scathing memoir about their relationship in a national men's magazine. Why Actors Can't Love debuted as part of the 2005 Minnesota Fringe Festival and played to rave reviews and sold-out houses. The show placed in the top ten in attendance by sheer numbers and percent of capacity. The production starred Maggie Chestovich and Jim Lichtscheidl and was directed by Terry Hempleman.

About the Author:
Allan Staples' plays have been produced as part of the Minnesota Fringe Festival, The Jungle Theater's In The Spotlight series, Thirst Theater and other local Twin Cities theaters. In print, his work appears in the Playwrights' Center Monologues for Men collection as well as the Audition Arsenal series. Additionally, His work has been heard on Minnesota Public Radio's 'In The Loop' program. Recently, he wrote a radio play for Lipservice Talent Agency. Allan is also a member of Actors' Equity Association and The Playwrights' Center.
